Meet The Director

GTY Profile Pic.png

As a pastor and mother of ten, Gina Tillman-Young's  (most people call her Pastor Gina) personal and pastoral experience confirms that in a Christ-centered environment, all children can exceed their highest expectations of accomplishment, through Christ Jesus who strengthens them (Philip. 4:13).

For three decades, Gina served, along with her husband, Edward D. Young III as pastor of Genesis Christian Church (GCC). In August 2021, Edward went to be with the Lord, after a brief unexpected illness. Since then, under the direction and support of the Holy Spirit,  Gina continues to serve GCC as its sole director and pastor.

She was the director of the first Genesis Christian Academy (GCA) established in St. Kitts-Nevis, a tiny federation in the Eastern Caribbean. It was there that Pastor Gina first successfully introduced teaching methodologies that were effective in accelerating learning and increasing retention in students of all ages and abilities.

Pastor Gina’s professional history combines over 45 years of experience in pastoral and Christian counseling ministry in Boston, Princeton, and Washington DC, as well as proprietorship of several commercial and non-profit enterprises, both in the U.S. and abroad. In 1981, Pastor Gina received a Juris Doctor degree from Harvard Law School, upon completion of joint studies in law and divinity, in affiliation with Harvard Divinity School. That same year, she was ordained in the Baptist ministry. She completed her undergraduate studies at Hampton University, graduating summa cum laude in 1977.

Pastor Gina loves serving in international missions. She is multilingual and has lived, traveled and studied throughout the world. Her background includes theater, painting, culinary arts, and fine arts, all of which she integrates into GCA’s curriculum. She plays the flute and is a songwriter and playwright. She has produced and directed several musical dramas for stage and Caribbean television. She is passionately committed to encouraging youth to be Christian non-conformists, transformed by the renewal of their minds (Romans 12:1-2).
